Beerathon 23 Current Lineup

Target 5.4% abv. 13.49 IBU's - Actually including four hop varieties of Citra, Mosaic, Cascade and Wakatu, a delicious double dry hopped pale ale, it's almost a Neipa and was supposed to be but didn't quite make it, bursting with fruit with a nice hazy bright amber colour, it turned out to be one of my favourites.

Hop To It

Heading for 7%, this ones a bit of a big punchy one, that's what you get for stirring it up a bit mid mash, still needs a final gravity check as this has been sealed throughout the fermentation process, the Tilt can be a bit unreliable when dry hopping.

Hop To It - Low Carb

With only a target of 4g of carbs per 330ml this is a keto friendly option of standard Hop To It. Using a lower mash temperature and a special enzyme to convert the none fermentable sugars, the process allows the fermentation to develop a dry beer resulting in not only low carbohydrates but also lower calorie beer, full of flavour and just as good.

This ones headed for between 5.6% and 5.9% abv. The gravity has hit 1.001 which means there will be a final carb count of 6.9g per 330ml so the target was a little off, will reduce the grain bill next time to get it lower, dry hopped it like the none low carb, smells really fruity so hoping for a great low carb beer, fingers crossed.

Update - Tastes Great, there might be some left for Beerathon day.

Breakfast Lager

Due to popular demand, I'm making a boring lager, not my usual stuff but I've bought the gear to make it so thought I'd get it done. Not guaranteed to have it ready, but will give it a go. Going for low carb on this one!

My recipe called for Saaz hops, but I haven't got any so going to use Wakatu.

Appearance: Lager

Aroma: Lager

Taste: Lager

This one has actually come out very tasty, the Wakatu hops have provided a nice flavour, not as clear as I'd like but it's a room temperature fermentation so no lagering and it's a LOW CARB :)

Last Years Beers

Last year some great brews were made but there was a bit of a catch, and a lot of learning has happened since then.

After storing the hops incorrectly, 3 brews have been shelved, they were left in the kegs and recently tasted for freshness.

One of the brews, Tangerine dream was tipped down the drain as it had oxidised, but the two remaining have kept nice and fresh, taste test came out well so they will be on offer on the day unless they have deteriorated beyond survivability.

These beers are Lime Green Jumper and Wingin It.

Wingin It was the first beer made in the Brew Tank and we simply winged it with the hops, using what we had, we just, well...... made any old beer, it turned out okay, not the best as the hops were not stored properly, but still drinkable beer.

Lime Green Jumper (LGJ) is a tried and tested ber, on it's 7th iteration now, but this also was brewed with hops which could have been stored better, so it wasn't the best batch.

Nevertheless, the beer is available to try, mostly to see what the effect of incorrect storage has on the hops.
